The Green Wing Macaw requires attention from people. They are highly trainable but are not best at mimicry. Proper care consists of correct diet and adequate sleep. You should give a variety of fruits and vegetables along with organic based diet of pellets. Seeds and nuts are given as treats. Leaves and barks may also be given. The most important thing is to keep it varied. It is discouraged to feed a macaw bird. on seeds and nuts alone due to the fact that these foods contain high concentration of fat, which will predispose them to certain health conditions. You should provide the bird its adequate sleep otherwise they will be grumpy. Green Wing Macaw Cages
Larger birds require larger cages. The Green Wing Macaw will enjoy cages that are large preferably with a minimum requirement dimension of 3 ft width, 2 ft diameter and 5 ft height. They enjoy heights because they are treetop dwellers and may necessitate you to get a tall cage. The best cage should be made of stainless steel although this will cost a lot. It can last the bird's lifetime and is very durable. An alternative cage would be made of steel with non-toxic paint. You may also want to make the cage wide grated bottom with a pull out tray to clean it up easily. Make sure that the cage doors are safe and the bars should be close enough to avoid escaping or getting caught in between. As long as you got a lot of patience and persistence to care for them, the sensitive Green Wing Macaw can make excellent pet parrots. © PetParrotsWeb.com All Rights Reserved
