Blue Gold Macaw as Pet ParrotsThe Blue Gold Macaw is treasured for its exceptional beauty and personality. Even though they tend to be nippy, they are considered excellent pets. They are very adaptable and can easily be handled by people. They are highly sociable and therefore must be exposed to social interaction at a young age. Most macaw species can speak but they aren't as good at it as the amazon birds. They are loud and destructive but highly intelligent and fairly easy to train although they will require more effort and basic knowledge from pet owners. But, they bond very closely to owners. During mating season, their aggressiveness becomes prominent. Blue Gold Macaw Care
The Blue Gold Macaw is fed on formulated diet consisting of pellet or extruded and fresh fruits and vegetables. Nuts and seeds are given as treats. Feeding with pellets is approximately 1/2 cup and another half cup for the fruits and vegetables. Routine bath or shower is necessary to maintain plumage and good skin. Most of them are active, playful and love to chew, which makes toys a necessity such as wooden blocks or branches that are non-toxic. They should not be allowed outside of the cage unsupervised to ensure their safety. Make sure that toxic substances are removed from the house and keep all windows closed if they are outside the cage.
Since, macaws are active birds you should at least spend a little time each day to socialize with them and exercise. Blue Gold Macaw CagesBecause of their high level of activity, their cages should accommodate them accordingly. This means that their cage must be large enough to allow them to freely move inside. They should be able to spread their wings - wing span of 3 inches - inside the cage without touching the sides of the cage. They should also have enough space to move between perches. Ideally, their cages should have a dimension of 5 ft in width, 5 ft in diameter and 8 ft by height. Durability of the cage is especially importance since they are strong chewers. Locks and latches may also be necessary since some varieties are adept at opening cage latches. The Blue Gold Macaw makes an excellent pet parrot to owners who can put up with their intellectual and social needs. © PetParrotsWeb.com All Rights Reserved
